Neil Ekblom to speak at program on Private Equity at Holy Name Hospital for CIANJ.

Over the past two decades, private equity investments into medical practices have increased and become more widespread. These financial groups have focused their acquisitions on a variety of specialties, including dermatologists, orthopedics, radiology, urgent care, anesthesiology and ophthalmology practices. CIANJ recognizes this growing trend and wants to explore its effect on the delivery of services and the healthcare industry overall. A panel of speakers will discuss the benefits and challenges sparked by this new paradigm in healthcare. The discussion points will include:

  • Identification of the objectives and goals of private equity firms and physician practices in such acquisitions
  • Descriptions of how these transactions work
  • What a physician practice looks like post-closing
  • How the private equity firm and the physician practice co-exist
  • Effects on the healthcare delivery system
