Comprised of a dedicated group of experienced litigators, Ekblom & Partners prides itself on its zealous advocacy on behalf of its clients. Experienced Trial Attorneys

Founder and Partner Neil H. Ekblom has been trying cases for over thirty years. He has represented a wide range of healthcare entities, including hospitals, medical centers, and physicians in various specialties, in litigation involving claims of medical malpractice, wrongful death, breach of contract, and fraud.

Mr. Ekblom has extensive experience defending ophthalmologists and their practices in professional liability actions and has developed a detailed understanding of the often complex medicine that is involved in such cases. He also represents officers and directors and other professionals in litigation matters requiring healthcare expertise.

A frequent lecturer and published author on topics ranging from risk management and litigation avoidance for healthcare providers to electronic health records and Affordable Care Act implications on the practice of medicine, Mr. Ekblom stays up to date on medical and legal developments that impact his clients and their patients.

Our Practice Areas

Healthcare Defense Litigation

The attorneys at Ekblom & Partners have decades of experience defending healthcare providers in actions alleging medical malpractice, as well as a variety of other healthcare-related tort and contract claims. Our healthcare litigation lawyers in New York are also retained by liability insurers to represent healthcare executives in claims involving directors and officers (“D&O”) liability, and physicians in state and federal investigations, including disciplinary proceedings before the OMPC and Fraud and Abuse allegations (Stark, Anti-Kickback, Qui Tam).

We provide personalized attention to our clients and develop a strategic approach to each case early in the process, allowing us to navigate through the various stages of litigation with focus and efficiency.

Corporate and Business Transactions

We advise healthcare entities on transactional issues, including negotiation and drafting of professional services agreements and other contracts relating to the practice of medicine, and enforcement of restrictive covenants. We also provide guidance to large medical practices on regulatory and compliance matters involving HIPAA and HITECH, data breaches, and billing issues.

Ekblom & Partners also represents clients in connection with CMS audits, Certificate of Need program requirements, and document review for private equity transactions involving healthcare entities.

General Liability Defense

Ekblom & Partners represent commercial landlords, large residential landlords, municipalities, and sports facilities in premises liability and toxic tort actions. Because many of these cases involve serious or catastrophic injuries, requiring a careful analysis of medical issues relating to liability, causation, and damages, our clients benefit greatly from the broad healthcare knowledge and resources we are able to bring to bear in defending these cases.

Healthcare Litigation Lawyers Serving New York, New Jersey, and Florida

Ekblom & Partners has officers in midtown Manhattan, central New Jersey (Cranford), and West Palm Beach, Florida. We typically meet with our clients at their office or place of business for a strategy consultation. Client collaboration and communication are essential elements of our firm’s approach.
